All The Boys Educated in 2012 :)

Guess what!? Ok, so the title gives it away a little but now all 24 boys are in school! They started a few weeks ago! In fact, half of the boys are in boarding school now which means they get accomodation and food along with their study and they come back to the Mydel Home either on weekends or on their school holidays. This has been great for the Home as the boys who are attending mainstream schools have so much more space and we can cater for food a lot better.

Plus (!) Redondo, who has been spending his time looking after the Home and mentoring the boys, can now work during the day which is obviously fantastic for him!

Plus plus... (!!) some of the boys who have been sponsored for a few years now are on their final school year and are taking their exams this year!

So, these orphaned boys, who were living on the streets struggling to find food and shelter each day just to survive, who could only dream of having an education, are now educated and gaining qualifications to get a job and building their future! Amaaaaziiiiing!

The boys are loving working with Mr Emma on their craft work. I spoke to some of the boys on Friday and they were so proud of their work.. one of them said he made a bowl which he is really pleased with.. he said he is now focussing on perfecting his work so that he can sell his crafts.

The boys have also been studying ICT very successfully and one of the boys who graduated from school this year.. Gerald (from those who have been following him you may remember his story!) .. is now continuing studying computer work and is looking to further his Education.

Aaaaand all the boys have been attending church, with Gerald in charge of reading the bible to everyone in the Home.

Oh yeh aaaand and and the Mydel Dance Crew are now praticising three times a week in the Community Hall which we have rented out. They are growing in number and they have been performing in various communities and schools around the area, also mentoring youth struggling with AIDS and issues of abuse and poverty.
