Bedding!

Thank You ALL sooooooooooooo much!


We have all pulled together and have managed to provide a full set of bedding for each boy in the home! Fantastic!

With particular thanks to members of Brislington Fellowship, Rob, my Nan and my cousin Jessica!

The boys have now received the following:


For the Deckers:

9 Fitted bed sheets


6 sleeping sheets


3 blankets




For the 2 Mattresses:
2 large bed sheets
1 huge blanket
1 double blanket
12 new single sheets


Plus:
2 Pillows
Pillow cases
3 Tea Towels
2 Hand Towels
Baby Blankets for the neighbours children


I also sent out an alarm clock, torches, felt-tips and paper as well as a game to play

The boys have already received everything and they are absolutely over the moon! The are sooo happy! I phone them every Friday and they are saying they are sleeping very well now!

It must be suuuch a huge improvement, from sleeping on the streets - to sleeping on the concrete floor in the home - to sharing carpet and a few matresses - to having beds and decent matresses - to now also having bedding!

The Latest:

I have managed to find a sponsor for two boys, Gerald and Brian, but there are still 3 which are in need of a sponsor to help with their school fee's. It's £50 every 3months. You can donate easily to the right of this page.

Dennis is now attending Dewe Project for a month to learn skills so he is able to make his own money and earn a living. Since he is 20, after the month it is up to him to use everything he knows to support himself and I hope that he will be able to teach the boys in the home the skills which he has aquired.

Rachel is in contact with Joe and is going to be an apprentice at his Cake and Decoration business.

Many of the boys have been living on the streets for many years and have not learnt how to co-operate in a home enviornment, hence it is important that a good routine is established. Therefore, since my visit, the boys are now following their daily and weekly timetables well and, now that they have everything they need, they are able to be more focused in tasks and in school. Redondo, Eric, Pascal and Joe are continuing to mentor the boys and over time we hope the boys will learn good morals and conduct for themselves, the home and the community.


The Next Steps:

Hopefully, if donations continue, all the boys will be able to go to school and I will be able to filter them through Dewe workshops when possible, so they are able to learn more skills and can become more self sufficiant.

Eventually, I would like to move the home into a larger building away from the chaos of Kampala and into a peaceful village with land, a water supply and vegetation.

But I am just taking each day and month as it comes for now and will see what happens!
